I quit my job as a Bloomberg News editor-at-large in March after 13 years at the company because the company spiked a 7-month investigative piece I was working on with Mike Forsythe (now of the NYT), Peter Hirschberg (now working for Reuters special reports team under Mike Williams) and Shai Oster (still there). I want to set up a non-profit body in Hong Kong that would seek to collaborate with similar bodies or like-minded individuals in other countries and regions to focus on China-focused cross-border investigative stories that seek to expose corruption and other crimes such as trafficking and environmental plunder, and to contribute to better governance and transparency.
