Roel Landingin is a free-lance journalist who has been covering business and the economy for more than 20 years. He is the Manila correspondent for the Financial Times, and a contributor to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ).
Formerly, he was business editor of the Manila Times, and was bureau chief of Bloomberg News in the Philippines. He was a winner in the Jaime V. Ongpin investigative journalism awards in 2009 and 2008 for his reports on the mismanagement of foreign aid in the Philippines and how corruption doomed a government flagship airport project.
As a reporter for two national newspapers in the late 1980s and early 1990s, he covered the banking, finance and energy sectors. His reportorial work earned him the “Outstanding Economic Journalist” and “Banking and Finance Reporter” awards from the Economic Journalists Association in 1994. He was part of the international team of journalists assembled by ICIJ who worked on Offshore Leaks in 2013 and on the privatization of water around the globe in 2003.
