Shawn W. Crispin has worked for over 15 years as a journalist in Asia. He previously served as Bangkok bureau chief for the Far Eastern Economic Review and Asian Wall Street Journal, and is currently the Southeast Asia Editor for Asia Times Online. Crispin joined the Committee to Protect Journalists in 2005 and now serves as the organization's Senior Southeast Asia representative. He also served as an investigative consultant with Human Rights Watch on press freedom issues in Thailand. Crispin received a master's degree in Southeast Asian Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington in 1999.
